Fontina Privacy Policy
Effective October 26, 2026.
Fontina is a recipe, pantry and grocery-sales app made by Kineema Labs ("we"). This page says what Fontina keeps, where, and why, in plain words.
The short version
- Your kitchen lives on your phone. You can use Fontina without an account.
- An account is only for sharing your kitchen with your household and using it on more than one device. Then a copy is kept on our server.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, no selling or renting your data. Ever.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
On your phone
Your recipes, photos, pantry, shopping list, stores and the sales you've saved are stored on your device. They stay there until you delete them or the app, including after you delete your account.
Some things happen on your phone and never reach us:
- Scanning. When you scan a cookbook page or a shelf tag, the camera image is read on your phone. Only the text you keep becomes part of your kitchen.
- Photos. When you pick photos, iOS hands Fontina only the ones you pick.
- Timers. Cooking timers are notifications scheduled on your phone.
- Siri and Shortcuts. These run on your phone against your kitchen.
Recipe links. When you add a recipe from a link, Fontina opens that page on your phone to read the recipe, the way a browser would. The website sees that visit as it would any other.
With an account
If you sign in (with an email code or Sign in with Apple), we keep:
- Your email address and an account ID, to sign you in. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; we then get an address from Apple that forwards to you.
- Your kitchen: recipes and their photos, notes, pantry, shopping list, meal queue, stores in shopping order, saved sales, and where recipes came from. This is what lets your household share it and keeps devices in step.
- Your household: who's in it (an account ID and an initial for each person) and the invite codes you make.
- Store ad emails you forward to your household's ad address, so Fontina can read the sales in them.
- Agent connections. If you connect an AI agent, we keep a fingerprint of its key (never the key itself) and when it was last used.
Everyone in a household can see and change the household's kitchen. Only invite people you want to share it with.
We use this information only to run Fontina's features for you. We don't use it for advertising and we don't sell it.
Who helps us run Fontina
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage (in the United States).
- Resend sends sign-in codes and receives the store ad emails you forward.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple and notifications, under Apple's own privacy policy.
They process data only to provide their service to us.
AI agents you connect (for example Claude or another app that speaks MCP) can read and change your household's kitchen through the key you give them. What they do with it is up to that service and its privacy policy.
Deleting your data
In Fontina, open Household and tap Delete account. That deletes:
- your account and email address,
- your membership in your household,
- your household's kitchen, photos and forwarded emails, if no one else is in it.
If someone else still shares your household, the kitchen stays with them; you just leave it. Your phone keeps its own copy of your kitchen, so you lose nothing on the device. Deletion on our server happens right away; backups age out within 30 days.
To remove everything on your phone too, delete the app.
Children
Fontina isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Most of it you can see, change or delete in the app yourself; for anything else, write to us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its date, and tell you in the app when the change matters.
